My approach to therapeutic work is that all healing is self-healing. As a therapist and practitioner I see myself in the role of a supportive guide while honoring your capacity to find your own path. I have a blended practice of Creative Arts Psychotherapy and Healing arts modalities. In my individual psychotherapy practice I use a variety of practices to facilitate and support trauma healing, including hypnosis, dreamwork, expressive arts, reiki, breathwork, and narrative approaches.
Psychotherapy is a modality that can provide a lot of insight and understanding into how experiences shape who we become, and I also recognize its limits. My belief is that as a practitioner my ability to hold space for others is in direct proportion to my own commitment to self-healing, and any modality I use or teach in therapeutic work is rooted in my own practices- in other words, there isn’t any modality I practice with others that I don’t do myself! Holding space for healing from traumatic experiences involves us addressing the impact of trauma on the body and spirit, while also locating the intersections between personal experience and systems of oppression.
