Okichie Davis, LPC, LCPC, ACS, NCC
My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, PTSD, interpersonal relationships, identity development, boundary-setting, and phase-of-life transitions. My practice is open to all and centers Black gender expansive individuals, persons of trans experience, and other marginalized gender experiences, as well as queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and asexual persons. I also affirm sex workers and individuals practicing alternative relationship styles such as non-monogamy, polyamory, and BDSM.
I use an integrated person-centered approach which draws on Liberation-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Mindfulness-based techniques. I believe that we are the experts in our own lives. We live, work, and play in our bodies everyday; we are the first to experience our thoughts, bodily sensations, and emotions. We all grow and change moment to moment as we act in relationship to the world and those around us, seeking to create meaningful lives–to find happiness, safety, and fulfillment. With this in mind, I strive to make each therapeutic relationship a collaboration; the client leads their own therapeutic journey, identifying and setting their own goals while I invite challenging reflection and shore up their growth process through support in developing skills that the client needs to reach those goals.
