Robert "Bobby" Marvin Holmes
I’m Bobby Marvin Holmes, a licensed clinical social worker with a dual background in media and human services. Over the span of my career, I have rooted myself in a mission to serve children, youth, & families. I have worked as a mental health therapist for Parker Psychiatric Services, an outpatient mental health clinic based in Baltimore, Maryland for a little of a year now, however, my experience in the mental health field spans nearly a decade. I use trauma focused-cognitive behavior therapy in treatment and I have received training in post-traumatic growth; recovery and intervention for childhood survivors of homicide; and adult grief. Through my agency, Son of a Dream (www.sonofadream.com), I use workshops and multimedia resources (documentary films and books) to engage, educate, and empower youth, families, and professionals. My youth and families workshops are strength-based and centers on youth development and family enhancement which includes strengthening communication and raising trauma awareness. In this capacity, I also aim to help build the competency of students & professionals in the human service profession by offering multimedia trainings that are rooted in social justice and explores the challenges and strengths of Black men, boys, families, and communities. As a staunch community advocate passionate about public health and safety, I have participated in several initiatives aimed at addressing community violence and empowering youth. I am a proud husband and father living in Baltimore, Maryland with my wife and children. I look forward to supporting you in your growth and development.
